The British Entertainment History Project is building and preserving what is now the UK's largest oral history collection of interviews with professionals from across the film, television, radio and theatre industries.
This unique collection of of over 800 professional experiences and personal insights reflects the working lives and the social, cultural and economic contribution of the UK's media entertainment industry.

Schlesinger achieved international fame with Midnight Cowboy (1969), a groundbreaking film starring Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight. It was the first X-rated film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture, and Schlesinger himself won the Oscar for Best Director.
