Born East London 1943. 1950 moved to Dalston . Local school. Sang in choir did drama classes. Sang in Opera at Covent Garden as a youth. Tried make up artist job . Employed in a warehouse. 15 Years old. 1959 offered job in Opera as teaboy at Covent Garden. Started to learn more makeup. And learned wigmaking. Made wigs from home for people abroad. Describes wig making in detail. Many anecdotes about performances. National Theatre.
